The PVC Shortage Continues

It looks like the PVC shortage, which started last year, will be with us through 3Q and possibly the remainder of the year.

The good news is that the shortage has given us many opportunities to educate about fiberglass conduit. We’re getting the word out that fiberglass conduit is a reliable and better alternative to PVC due to its:

  • Short lead times
  • Competitive pricing
  • Lower installation costs
  • Light weight
  • Superior compression and impact strength
  • No burn-through
  • Low coefficient of friction

Here are some of the resources you can access that directly relate to the PVC shortage:

Conduit CalculatorConduit Calculator

The conduit calculator has now been updated to include price comparisons to PVC SCH 40 & 80. (PVC-coated steel has always been a comparison option.) This is a great tool to direct potential customers to once they are aware of the benefits of fiberglass conduit, have a project in mind and are ready to dig in and see some actual numbers.

PVC Comparison ChartPVC Comparison Chart

This one-pager is similar to our Fiberglass Conduit Comparison Chart but is strictly fiberglass vs. PVC including PVC SCH 40, PVC SCH 80 and PVC-coated steel. It’s helpful because it shows a head-to-head comparison on weight, installation hours, temperature range and more.
